Smoking is a dangerous and addictive habit that affects the lives of millions of people around the world. We now know the dangers of cigarette smoking and smokers are urged to quit smoking for the benefit of their own health. This is not easy to do, as most smokers begin at an young age. The average age at which many people begin to smoke is thirteen years old.
A habit formed at such a young age is not easily broken. Nicotine affects the body in many ways and it is hard to pull free without some assistance. Nicotine addiction is only one of many different diseases associated with smoking. Most smokers will need assistance to quit smoking and a variety of different methods exist for this very purpose.

There are many reasons that people take up smoking but whatever they are, there comes a point in most smokers lives when they would like to quit. Many people will try, fail and try again throughout their lives and there is no doubt that the biggest obstacle is will power. That is no weakness. This will power is needed to overcome a chemical addiction and, smokers claim, is one of the hardest things to achieve.
When people attempt to diet and there are certain things that that try to avoid, one slip does not mean the end of a diet. However, when you slip off the rails and have a cigarette during the course of quitting, immediately your veins and your brain are full of the craved for chemicals once again and youre back on the merry-go-round. This is why it is almost impossible to stop smoking by cutting down. However, there is as much help available for those who wish to stop smoking as there is for those on a diet.
